Mission Brief:

Set nine years before the main game, you play as Michael Townley (later known as Michael De Santa) during a bank robbery with Trevor Philips and Brad Snider in North Yankton. It’s a tutorial mission teaching you basic controls — aiming, shooting, taking cover, switching characters, and fleeing from police.

1. Take hostages and enter the vault

2. Blow open the vault door and collect the money

3. Escape the building while fighting off guards

4. Switch to Trevor and cover the group’s escape

5. Drive the getaway car to the chopper location

6. Survive a police shootout and reach the farm

7. Watch the final cutscene setting up the story

️ Step-by-Step Walkthrough:

1. Intro & Hostage Control

• After the cutscene, take control of Michael.

• Aim at the hostages with L2/LT and tap R2/RT to fire near them and intimidate.

• Move forward with your crew into the vault room.

2. Blow the Vault Door

• Walk to the door, plant the sticky bomb (on-screen prompt).

• Step back and detonate it with the trigger.

• Walk inside and collect the $179,000 from the cash trays.

3. Escape with the Cash

• Head toward the exit — the alarm goes off.

• Security guards arrive: aim and shoot to neutralize them.

• Follow the crew down the hallway and take cover when needed.

• Use cover and aim mechanics (L2 + R2 or LT + RT) to learn combat basics.

4. Switch to Trevor

• During the gunfight, the game prompts you to switch to Trevor using the character wheel.

• Trevor wields a powerful shotgun — clear the path for your crew.

5. Drive the Getaway Car

• After the shootout, exit the building and get into the getaway car.

• Drive along the snowy road toward the chopper location.

• During this scene, you’ll briefly control driving mechanics.

6. Ambush & Shootout

• The crew gets ambushed by the police when the escape goes wrong.

• Take cover and fight off the officers. Brad gets shot.

• Michael gets injured and tells Trevor to escape.

7. Cutscene: Michael’s “Death”

• After Trevor flees, a cutscene shows Michael’s fake funeral.

• You see Michael in therapy years later — now living in Los Santos.

MISSION COMPLETE!

• After the therapy session and cutscene, control shifts to Franklin, marking the start of the modern-day storyline and Mission 2: “Franklin and Lamar.”
